We are the champions!

Our talented and  hard working hockey team, who sweat it out twice weekly at the Woodbrook Youth Facility, far away from our school compound, finally saw their hard work pay off on Thursday 5th March 2015 when they were crowned champions of the Trinidad and Tobago Hockey Board’s Secondary Schools Outdoor Girls Premiership division. Going into the match, we were tied with Providence on seven points, with Holy Name Convent, the defending champions on six.  Our superior goal difference however meant all we needed to do was just to avoid defeat in our last match by four goals.

Our final game at the St. James Barracks, with the strong, determined girls of Woodbrook Secondary was an edgy, hard fought encounter with neither team able to penetrate the other's defensive wall until SJCPOS' senior national team player, Tamia Roach struck in the 25th minute. And try as they might, our cross town rivals were unable to match it as we were able to hold on to a narrow 1-0 victory, just enough to seal the coveted title. After the match, the team and the small group of proud parents and ecstatic supporters praised their efforts and especially, those of their brilliant coach, past SJCPOS alumni and past national team captain, Stacey Ann Siu Butt. Congrats, guys and keep shining!
