Welcome

Congratulations to all our new Form Ones on your success in coming into the school of your first choice, which I hope will be a home away from home for the next seven years.  I extend my congratulations also to the students who wrote external examinations. You did us proud by securing 100% passes at CSEC and CAPE! Welcome to all our returning Form Five students, as well as those who will be joining us from other schools, I hope that the two years of Sixth Form will be a rewarding and enriching experience.

Welcome back to all members of the teaching staff to a new school year! I trust that the holiday was  a restful and relaxing one and that you have returned refreshed and rejuvenated to face the challenges of a new school year. I congratulate the staff for their excellent results. I truly value your hard work and commitment.  As always I continue to look to you for support, as we work together to keep alive the values and traditions of our school even as we respond to change.

The theme for this academic year is “Rooted in Tradition Responsive to Change”.  This theme will guide our activities as we seek to strengthen our understanding of our values and traditions in this the 175th Anniversary of the foundation of our school. However, society is constantly changing and we have to respond to these changes in the best way possible and see these changes as opportunities for stimulating progress in our school. The Catholic Church is also calling on all sections of the community to look at ways of “Revitalizing Catholic Culture and Identity” and we will be looking at ways to achieve this within our Religion programs.

This academic year we will also be conducting a Self Study and so will be gathering information from all our stakeholders and we look forward to dialoguing with all students, teachers, other members of staff and parents as well as members of the community as we seek to Revisit and Review what we do and why we do it.

I encourage all to look at our school’s vision and mission statements as these will help you to understand our goals and objectives. Primarily we strive to create a nurturing and caring environment in which all can achieve their full potential. The school was established on Faith, in Hope and with Love. May God give us the grace and strength to continue our work in keeping alive the work begun by the Sisters of St. Joseph’s of Cluny of providing sound education and formation to the young people of this country.

I look forward to a productive and successful academic year 2011-2012.
